Self-Compassion for Autistic Parents

Want to know more?

The ‘Self-Compassion for Autistic Parents’ online group program is an 8-week online journey of self-discovery and support, where autistic parents can come together to nurture self-compassion, embrace their authentic selves and be a part of a supportive, affirming community.

This group is for autistic parents who are raising autistic/PDA/neurodivergent children.

Maximum 10 participants.

A copy of the Neuro-Affirming Self-Compassion Workbook is included.

What’s included?

  • Learn about self-compassion through an affirming lens and the benefits it can offer parents.

  • Learn about acceptance and how this applies to our lives as autistic parents.

  • Exploring parental burnout, the impact, cycle and how to compassionately support ourselves.

  • Explore the complexities of being an autistic parent raising an autistic/PDA or neurodivergent child. Learn about self-compassion for parents and why it’s ok to be a compassionate mess.

  • Learn all about interoception (our ability to notice internal body signals) and the impact this has on our emotions.

  • Exploring our values as parents and how to support ourselves when making difficult decisions.

  • Opportunity to reflect, chat and ask lots of questions.

  • Final self-compassion guided practice session.

  • Included is a copy of the 25-page Neuro-Affirming Self-Compassion Workbook for autistic people. Self-compassion can feel challenging, especially in a world that often misunderstands or invalidates autistic experiences. This workbook offers practical strategies, reflective exercises, and guidance to help build self-kindness and self-acceptance.

Hi, I’m Karenza!

I’m a Mental Health Occupational Therapist with 13 years of clinical mental health experience (LOAPAC endorsed). I’m proudly autistic, a mother and advocate. I have worked across private and public mental health hospitals, community mental health, and private practice, as well as teaching at the university level. I am incredibly passionate about neuro-affirming practice and supporting the mental health of autistic people and families.

I created the Self-Compassion for Autistic Parents program because:

  1. Many autistic parents in therapy have benefited from learning more about self-compassion.

  2. Self-compassion is a deep interest of mine! It has been a meaningful part of my personal and professional life for many years.

  3. Connecting with other autistic parents who truly understand our experiences can be profoundly validating.
